With android devices becoming increasingly more powerful year by year, we can only expect the gaming capabilities & performance advancement to be equally good. It is no surprise that mobile devices are the single piece of tech that we interact with the most in a day.

The small form factor and the long battery life and features make it a convenient electronic device to carry on you no matter where you are.

The convenience that mobile gaming offers is spectacular, and the success of gaming on mobile phones can be seen. Just open up the Google Play Store app, and you will notice that Games have a dedicated tab!

There are hundreds of games on the Google Play Store, with so many deserving a spot on your home screen. There is no shortage of games when it comes to the mobile platform. We see titles published by massive brands like EA Sports & Nintendo, to name a few.

To help you choose and discover your next favorite game, we researched and played around with many games over the last few months, trying to find unpopular gems which you may find quite interesting. If you want the best bang for your buck, Google’s new Play Store Pass subscription costs just $4.99 per month and grants you access to hundreds of paid apps and games!

Without further ado, here are our top picks and the games that have earned their spot on our home screen.

List of Games:

1. Minecraft

Minecraft is the #1 top-selling game of all time, and rightfully so. The game offers endless hours of fun with unlimited possibilities and continuous developments and improvements by Mojang. Explore limitless worlds and build everything from the tiniest cottages to the biggest castles.

Minecraft allows you to mine deep into the world, building weapons and armor to fend off monsters in survival mode, or you can play in creative mode with unlimited resources. Furthermore, Minecraft allows you to expand your game by adding add-ons & allows for multiplayer gameplay so you can play along with your friends.

Overall, we enjoyed playing Minecraft, and we genuinely believe that its price tag is justified. This is one of those games that you do not get tired of.

2. Candy Crush Saga

No list of top games is complete without Candy Crush Saga earning a spot. Candy Crush is a top-rated mobile game with over 1 Billion installs! You most definitely have heard of it or experienced someone playing it at some point. If not, you need to go out more often (just kidding).

The game looks like a cross between Tetris and a Las Vegas video slot machine. Candy Crush is the greatest boredom-killer in human history. It is wonderfully constructed to be easy to get into, enjoyable to stick with, and addictive as hell. One possible explanation for the game’s popularity is that people despise leaving tasks unfinished.

That is why we spend large amounts of time playing the game to accomplish goals. Completing those goals offers us a sense of mastery and accomplishment. Games like Candy Crush reward you when you complete goals, so you feel good about yourself.

The designers of these games construct changing goals so that just as you reach one, there is another and then another. This makes the game very addicting and is why the game locks you out after a certain period.

This lockout period is quite useless as KING (the developers) have multiple versions of Candy Crush, with each having the same game engine on a different skin. We do not recommend games like these for kids without supervision or for people with addictive personalities, as this will suck all of your time.

If you are a motorsport fan, buckle up because these next two games are for you!

3. Need For Speed Most Wanted

Need For Speed is available on the Google Play Store for Android devices. The graphics on this mobile game is incredible and showcases just how far mobile devices have come! Outrun cops, outsmart rivals – and outdrive your friends (Yes! You can play along with your friends).

NFS Most Wanted lets you evade police forces while brawling with street racers. You can also race and chase hot automobiles like the SRT Viper GTS, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Hummer H1 Alpha, and many more.

What makes this game stand out is the realism. Unlike other motorsport games, the vehicle crash damage is realistic in Need For Speed. Another significant aspect of this game is that it is not a ‘pay to win’ type of game, and therefore you can thoroughly enjoy the game without having to pull out your wallet every time to progress. Overall, we enjoyed this game, and the graphics were just incredible.

4. GRID™ Autosport

GRID Autosport is a realistic racing simulator mobile game. You can get this AAA title game for a single payment of $9.99, including all the DLCs. The game features 100 cars along with 100 different race tracks, so you can be sure to have endless hours of fun testing out the various cars and tracks.

One downside of this game is that it is pretty large, measuring almost 4GB. Furthermore, only a selected range of devices are compatible with this game due to its graphics requirements.

For the most realistic motorsport experience, we highly recommend this game. The realism and graphics make it an enjoyable game to play. We admit that the game is a bit expensive, and it is missing some more minor things racing fanatics tend to like, but it is otherwise one of the best racing experiences in the Play Store.

5. Angry Birds Series

Join hundreds of millions of other players for free and begin your slingshot journey right away! You may team up with your friends in all-new game modes, climb the leaderboards, form clans, collect hats, complete challenges, and participate in entertaining events. Evolve your squad and display your talents in one of the most entertaining games out there! The storyline is similar to the original hit. Mean, green pigs snuck into some birds’ nests and took their eggs.

The ‘Angry Birds’ then promised revenge to get back at the pigs. The bigs run and hide in increasingly complex structures, and players need to use the sling or catapult to fling birds at the pigs. Similar to the previous release, different birds have varied talents. Angry Birds 2, however, you walk around a map, and on each level, you acquire various “bird cards” and choose which bird is most suited to the task.

6. Sky: Children of the Light

Discover the magical world of Sky, a brilliantly animated kingdom awaiting you and your loved ones’ exploration. Spirits and their stories will take you on a journey through their serene world and its seven kingdoms. Fans of Journey and Flower will appreciate the latest game from the same designers. Sky: Children of the Light is just as beautiful as the rest of the team’s work; it is an adventure with a social element. You take on the role of one of the Children of the Light, tasked with restoring hope to the kingdom and reuniting fallen stars with their constellations.

The kingdom of Sky features seven brilliantly depicted areas to explore, and you can personalize your character to your preference before starting. Take on tasks, save spirits, unearth treasures, and explore darker, more hazardous regions by chatting with and teaming up with other people in this peaceful, open-world MMORPG.
